Privacy Policy
Effective Date: May 18, 2026
Rotato ("we," "our," or "the App") is developed by Anish Bhondwe. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use Rotato on iOS. We are committed to protecting your privacy — and the short version is: all of your data stays on your device.
1. Information We Collect
Rotato does not collect, transmit, or store any personal information on external servers. There are no user accounts, no cloud sync, and no analytics. All data generated by the App remains entirely on your device.
The App stores the following data locally:
- Blocking rules — the apps you choose to block, schedules, and rotation requirements you configure.
- Unlock history — timestamps and rotation counts for each unlock event.
- Daily statistics — aggregated counts of unlocks, rotations, and saved sessions per day.
- Focus session data — start time, duration, and app selection for focus sessions.
- Screen time goal — your daily screen time target in minutes.
- Preferences — rotation direction, notification settings, and onboarding completion status.
2. Age Information
During onboarding, the App asks for your age to display a personalized lifespan visualization. This value is used only for that one-time calculation and is not stored persistently — it exists only in memory while you are on that screen.
3. Device Permissions
Rotato requests the following iOS permissions:
- Screen Time / Family Controls— required to block and monitor app usage. Managed entirely by Apple's FamilyControls and DeviceActivity frameworks.
- Notifications — used to prompt you to open Rotato when a blocked app is accessed. Only local notifications are sent; no push notification servers are involved.
- Motion Sensors (Gyroscope) — used to detect phone rotations for the unlock mechanism. Motion data is processed in real time and is never recorded or stored.
The App does not access your camera, microphone, location, contacts, photos, health data, or clipboard.
4. Third-Party Services
Rotato does not integrate any third-party SDKs, analytics platforms, advertising networks, or tracking tools. The only external communication is with the Apple App Store for subscription verification, which is handled entirely by Apple's StoreKit framework.
5. Subscriptions
Rotato offers auto-renewable subscriptions (Weekly and Yearly plans) with a 3-day free trial. All payment processing, subscription management, and billing are handled by Apple through the App Store. We do not receive, store, or have access to your payment information.
You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time through your Apple ID settings.
6. Data Sharing
We do not share, sell, rent, or disclose any of your data to third parties. Since all data is stored locally on your device and never transmitted, there is no data to share.
7. Data Retention & Deletion
All App data is stored locally on your device. You can delete individual blocking rules within the App at any time. To remove all data, simply uninstall the App — this permanently deletes everything, as there is no server-side copy.
8. Children's Privacy
Rotato does not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The App does not require an account, does not collect personally identifiable information, and all data remains on-device. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided personal information through the App, please contact us so we can address your concerns.
9. Security
Because Rotato stores all data locally and does not transmit information over the internet, your data benefits from the security protections built into iOS, including device encryption and app sandboxing.
10. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Your continued use of the App after any changes constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
