Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the Rotato mobile application ("the App"), developed by Anish Bhondwe ("we," "our," or "us"). By downloading, installing, or using the App, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.

1. Description of Service

Rotato is a screen time management app for iOS that helps you build healthier phone habits. The App allows you to create blocking rules for apps and app categories, requiring physical phone rotations to unlock access. Rotato uses Apple's Screen Time APIs (FamilyControls, ManagedSettings, and DeviceActivity) to manage app restrictions on your device.

2. Eligibility

You must have a compatible iOS device running iOS 18.1 or later to use the App. By using the App, you represent that you are at least 13 years of age, or that you are using the App with the consent of a parent or guardian.

3. Subscriptions & Payments

Rotato offers auto-renewable subscription plans to access premium features:

  • Weekly Plan — $1.99 per week
  • Yearly Plan — $19.99 per year

Both plans include a 3-day free trial. You will not be charged during the trial period. After the trial ends, your subscription will automatically renew at the applicable rate unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current billing period.

All payments are processed by Apple through the App Store. We do not handle or have access to your payment information. You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time through your Apple ID account settings. Refunds are subject to Apple's refund policies.

If your subscription expires or is cancelled, you will lose access to premium features. Your locally stored data (blocking rules, history) will remain on your device.

4. Screen Time Permissions

Rotato requires Screen Time authorization (via Apple's FamilyControls framework) to function. By granting this permission, you authorize the App to apply app restrictions, monitor device activity schedules, and display shield overlays on blocked apps. You can revoke this authorization at any time through your device's Screen Time settings, which will disable the App's blocking functionality.

5. User Responsibilities

You agree to:

  • Use the App only for its intended purpose of personal screen time management.
  • Not attempt to reverse-engineer, decompile, or tamper with the App.
  • Not use the App in any way that violates applicable laws or regulations.
  • Not use the App to restrict another person's device without their knowledge and consent.

6. Intellectual Property

All content, design, code, graphics, and trademarks associated with Rotato are owned by Anish Bhondwe and are protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the App for personal, non-commercial purposes in accordance with these Terms.

7. Disclaimer of Warranties

The App is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, either express or implied. We do not guarantee that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or compatible with all devices or iOS versions. Screen Time API behavior is controlled by Apple and may change with iOS updates.

Rotato is a tool to help you manage your screen time. We do not guarantee specific results regarding screen time reduction, productivity, or behavioral change.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Anish Bhondwe shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of or inability to use the App, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of access to apps, or disruption to device functionality.

9. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your access to the App at any time, with or without cause. You may stop using the App at any time by uninstalling it from your device and cancelling any active subscription through your Apple ID settings.

10. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Your continued use of the App after any changes constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

11. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the United States, without regard to conflict of law principles.
